Security Advice

Whilst we only actually require either a hitch lock and a wheel clamp for most caravans, more security is required for higher value and twin axle caravans. New and nearly new caravans are particularly prone to theft and you need to take particular care of your new van to keep it safe. Always lock the door of your caravan as theft of items from the caravan is not covered if you leave it unlocked.

A hitch lock and a wheel clamp are just deterrents. The Police tell us that the criminal gangs, who go out to steal caravans, have equipment which allows them to very quickly cut through any steel. Oxy-acetylene cutters, battery operated grinders, and hydraulic cutters are all used to cut physical security devices from a caravan.

The point is to think of these things as a deterrent, nothing more. Do your very best to secure your caravan in other ways as well.
