Touring Caravan Continental Cover
Your Caravanwise touring caravan insurance policy covers your caravan for 90 days in the European union and other named countries. See sidebar for full territorial limits. This cover is exactly the same as you have in the UK plus it covers you for the cost of repatriation to the UK if your caravan is damaged by accident, fire, theft, flood or fire and you are unable to tow it as a result.
If you plan to be away for longer than 90 days then you will need to obtain a policy from another company as the NIG cover will not be suitable for you.
Your caravan is covered while in transit between the counties listed to the right on any recognised ferry service.
Make Sure you have Breakdown Cover
The NIG touring caravan policy, in common with most similar policies, specifically excludes mechanical or electrical breakdown and, as this may cause you more of a problem when you are abroad, it is essential that you arrange breakdown cover which will provide service for both your car and caravan. Most of the motoring organisations provide this cover but make sure you check you are covered before you travel.
The cover for family and friends to tow your caravan with permission is for the UK only. If you wish to have family and/or friends tow the caravan abroad you must advise us prior to travel so that we can refer this to the underwriter and if agreed extend the policy for your trip. There is usually an additional charge for this extension and we will of course provide you with a quotation for this. It is advisable that you allow two weeks to ensure that we have made the necessary alterations to your policy.
Claims
If you need to make a claim for an incident which occurs while you are abroad telephone us on 01425 280078 and we will do all that we can to help. If it is possible to make temporary repairs that are safe, and make your claim for the full repair when you return to the UK this is often the best course of action. You can authorise repairs up to £250 yourself.
