The Caravanwise policy has very sensible security requirements. Remember you will be covered as if a trailer tent or folding camper were a kind of touring caravan.
The policy requires that when detached from the towing vehicle and unattended for more than 2 hours the folding camper must be secured by a hitch lock and awheel clamping device.
People often ask us to recommend a brand of security device and while we are not able to specify a particular brand those which carry the SoldSecure mark have been put through tests to ensure that they provide a satisfactory level of protection. A hitch lock or wheel clamp will only slow the thief down. If the thief is not disturbed, and have the required equipment, they can remove even the best ones in a few minutes. Some gangs have even developed gear to allow them to tow a caravan or trailer with the hitch lock still in place and we have had cases where caravans have been rolled by hand away from a house so that the gang can work on the hitch lock without being overheard.
