Question: What amount will I have to pay as an excess if I have to make a claim?

Answer: The standard policy excess is £100 so in most claim situations that is what you would have to pay. If you loan your trailer tent or folding camper to a friend or relative and you have to make a claim for an event that occurred while they had it then the policy excess is £200.

If the claim is the result of an accident which is not your fault. Then, if NIG, your insurer, are able to recover the cost of your claim from the third party or, more likely, their insurer, you will be able to request a refund of your excess from the third party insurers. This process can take a considerable period but if another insurer is involved and they accept liability then generally you will get your excess back in due course.
